MASST

Let's create, Let's connect, Let's join the club

Welcome to MASST, a political party that aims to create a real, modern democracy where everyone feels welcome. We believe in the power of people and ideas, and we are committed to building a positive and inclusive political landscape.

Our mission is to listen to the voices of citizens, promote transparency, and foster collaboration across party lines. We want to create a society where everyone can thrive, where green spaces are valued, and where participation is more than just voting every few years.

Our Mission

To a real, modern democracy where everyone feels welcome.

MASST stands for 'Movement for an Active Society of Solidarity and Transparency'. The 'S' also contains the 'c' of 'Cooperation' and 'Connectivity' and 'SST' also stands for 'slow down a little sometimes, pause for a moment, rest, reflect and listen a bit'. We strive for a world built for people.

Above all, we want to see many new people entering politics. We believe that these ordinary people —who, above all, are human beings— can bring a new, fresh, positive vibe to today's political landscape. Politics really doesn't have to be the way it is today.

Democracy is more than just elections

We want to listen to people on the ground. People have good ideas and insights, and often very valid concerns. We want to go out with interviewers to hear what's on people's minds, and we want to involve experts by experience on specific themes or issues. It's not just a matter of: anyone who wants to make their voice heard should be able to do so; we also want to hear from those who are quiet so that we can make the best possible decisions. We believe that we can arrive at proposals and decisions with the broadest possible support, not by voting, but by genuinely listening and trying to understand one another.

Only when citizens have access to information and there is transparency regarding ongoing matters and what is being discussed can citizens contribute their ideas. The government should primarily be a facilitator, bringing people together, linking people and listening.

We also want full transparency and easily accessible information about how funds are being used and what happens to our tax money. In this way we hope that taxes will be seen less and less as a burden and more and more as a contribution to positive things for society.

We want to think long-term. It makes no sense to focus solely on each term of office; we want to work systematically. Not just for today and tomorrow, but also for future generations.

We want to form a political party from the bottom up, in a spirit of positivity and positive energy. We don't want to settle for just treating the symptoms, but rather address and change things in a structural way. We can't get by with just putting band-aids on the wounds; we need to think big and look far ahead. We want to trigger a positive revolution, shape structural upheavals.

We want to build bridges rather than feed the polarization. We want to cooperate across party lines, connect, rather than each one on their island.
  • Social: We want to live for each other, not just for ourselves. We want to live for our families, our neighbors and neighborhoods, for those less fortunate, those living on the streets and those having fled from their homelands.
  • Individual responsibility: Not too many rules. Rules shouldn't paralyze and we need to give space to people to develop their own policies. Things that can be regulated locally should be regulated locally. Locally, the strongest and most appropriate policies are formed and participation of and feeling with citizens is best put into practice.
  • Green: Although housing needs are also (very) high and this isn't a priority for people in need, green neighborhoods contribute to a more pleasant life. They offer a place of peace and tranquility, provide relief from the heat, and help regulate water management, prevent flooding, and ensure clean air. A healthy living environment benefits everyone.

You can find our core values here.

So, how do we do that?

On the discussion forum anyone can easily submit ideas and respond (constructively) to each other's ideas, complement them, challenge them, question them.
How to reach people who have no idea about the platform and/or the party? We're going out to ask questions to people on the street. Reports of this will come here.
