MASST, based in Brussels, is a progressive Belgian political party that strives for a genuine and modern democracy where everyone feels at home, and where listening to one another, collaboration across party lines, building bridges, positivity and transparency are at the core. We want to evolve towards a resilient and sustainable society that is constantly evolving. We want politicians who are above all, human beings.
Our fundamental valuesare:
The party is a de facto association operating through a vzw (non-profit organization - more on this very soon). The party's bylaws comply with the vzw's bylaws and provide further details. The vzw serves as the foundation upon which the party exists.
The website, including the (discussion) platform, serves as the project's main hub. The website (masst.be) is available in at least three languages (Dutch, French, and English). The website is updated monthly, apart from July and August.
Because coming together builds community, physical gatherings are crucial in addition to the platform. Where people come together, magic happens, and ideas are born. Coming together creates connection and a sense of belonging.
We aim to manage our funds as effectively, fairly, transparently, responsibly, and prudently as possible. We want to spend our money wisely and strive for complete financial transparency. All revenue and expenditures are consistently and accurately recorded on the website (which is updated monthly).
We never spend more than we have available at any given time.
There are three types of members: “supporting members,” “attending members,” and “advisory members”:
You do not need to be a member to participate in activities or to join discussions on the forum.
To become a member, fill out the membership form and pay the annual membership fee, the amount of which is set by the end of November of the previous year. For 2026, the membership fee amounts to 26 euros. People who join in December pay the membership fee for the upcoming year.
Each year, members indicate on the membership form whether they wish to be a supporting member, an attending member or an advisory member. The membership fee is the same for all three types. Members can also change their status during the year if they wish.
Membership is renewed upon payment of the membership fee. Members have until February 1 to pay the membership fee to remain a member.
(Note: Team members also pay their annual membership fee. Anyone who does not pay the fee loses their position. The exception to this is the ombudsperson, who is not required to be a member.)
Members must be at least 18 years old. People aged 14 and older can join the youth section.
Members are completely free to join other parties as well.
A large gathering is organised every year, where everyone is welcome. Members have a vote and are encouraged to attend meetings. The team is expected to be there.
Before organizing the first congress and the first votes, at least 50 active members must be counted.
By October 2028, the party platform is presented to and discussed by the members. The political program aligns with the party's core values and vision. The people of the 'political roles' submit a proposal and the members discuss and vote on it.
We strive for democracy, where everyone has a voice. We respect one another, treat each other with care, and are honest and transparent. We condemn racism and discrimination and actively work to combat corruption. People must not be misled or paid to do or refrain from doing certain things, or to accept or decline a particular position. Globally, we strive for peace.
No racism, no discrimination, no corruption, and on the path to peace.
Violations of these principles can result in expulsion.
We aim for a positive forum where everyone is welcome to share their thoughts constructively. Inappropriate posts or posts that violate the Code of Ethics (Art. 9) may be removed by the platform moderator.
Discussions on the forum may also be closed or terminated by the platform moderator, and discussions that are no longer relevant will be removed.
We use your data exclusively for internal purposes. We do not share your data with third parties. The data is stored for as long as necessary for the proper functioning of the organization. Any person can at any time request what data we hold about them. When collecting data, we always clearly indicate what will happen to this data, who will have access to it, and which data will potentially be published on the website.
The bylaws are reapproved annually, following approval of the budget. For this, at least 60% of the members must vote, and a two-thirds majority is required.
The original bylaws (the first set of bylaws approved) are always stored. In addition, the bylaws from the past 7 years are retained.
The party shall be dissolved :
What happens to any remaining funds if the party is dissolved?
To the extent that this can be determined and to the extent possible, upon the party's dissolution, these funds will be refunded as best as possible in a ratio equal to the proportion in which the largest sponsors contributed (who together accounted for at least 70% of the party’s funding/sponsorship over the past 5 years), up to a maximum amount equal to the original donation. We hope that this money can then be put to good use again.
If there is any money left over after that, it will go to a charity chosen by the members at the party's last meeting.
When making a donation, you may indicate: Should this ever occur—in the event the party is dissolved—I would like (1) my money returned in full, to the extent possible (this is not possible if you donate anonymously), or (2) my money may be donated to a charity upon the party’s dissolution. This information is kept on file and is not made public.
